East Broad Top Railroad
The sound you are hearing is East Broad Top's #14
The East Broad Top Railroad is located in Rockhill Furnace, Pa. about one and one-half hours southwest
of Altoona. They are the only operating narrow-gauge railroad east of the Mississippi. They run about an
hour long excursion to Colgate Grove, Pa. where the entire train is turned on a wye. After the train is turned, the passengers
may de-train into a picnic area to relax or eat before returning to the station. This railroad has been on the
endangered species list for some time but a dedicated group of individuals still manage to keep it going with
hard work and little funds. Placed on the books as a National Historic Site in 1964, the E.B.T. is well worth a visit.
